NorthStar Communications Group Assists Gulf Coast Carriers with Hurricane Katrina Telephone Service Restoration Efforts

For Immediate Release.  September 14, 2005, Birmingham, Alabama:  Over the past two weeks, NorthStar Communications Group, Inc. (NorthStar) has deployed 45 personnel to the Gulf Coast region and expects to have a total of 70 individuals in place within the coming week.  NorthStar is assisting local carriers with the restoration of telephone service to thousands of customers in the Gulf Coast region.  NorthStar's efforts are focused largely in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Covington, Louisiana, as well as Meridian, McComb, Natchez, Hattiesburg, Biloxi and Gulfport, Missisipip, where Hurricane Katrina left much of the area without telephone service.

NorthStar is sending crews to survey the geography of the affected areas, to report cable equipment damage and assist in restoration efforts.  NorthStar's survey crews are also working on redesigning the network totally destroyed by high winds and water damage.
